Hello All

I have a Caterham 21 and I am looking for a way to prevent stone chip flicked up by the wheel creating star crack.

Any product on the market you maybe aware of which would help?

Kind regards

Jack

Inside or outside the arch?

For the outside, I've seen everything from protective film, to steel/alu covers, to gaffer tape, to a particularly 'ratty' looking Westfield that had what I assume was a shingle tile on there!

For the inside, I've seen only two solutions...one was what looked like black artificial grass, and the other was a tar-like substance.

It would be for the inside of the arch.

What about somekind of "rubber" matting?

I don't have a Caterwestical type car myself. These are all things I've seen at track days as a driver or marshal...and the odd occasion I've rented a Superlight or CSR.

I suppose anything flexible, rubbery, and water-resistant would do (maybe flexible motorsport mud-flap material would work), as long as it can be securely affixed and not foul the tyres (although I don't think I've seen any Caterham without about 4" gap between tyre and arch wink

The other option would be one of the protection sprays, such as Hammerite Stone Shield, or Wurth Underbody spray!

I'm currently restoring an Elan Plus 2 and was concerned about the same thing. I've used Gravitex on the entire underside of the shell but applied many heavy coats to the inside of the arches in the tyre 'flick' zone - it's a very good product, easy to apply and has a very high build.

I love 21's by the way - how about some pictures?
