Recently I bought 6 fuel injectors (for an MG ZT-T V6) via ebay from China for a total of £70.

Genuine injectors are over £70 each.

To my surprise, the supposedly cheapo Chinese ones look, feel (and weigh) the same and say "Seimens Deka" on the side. (Seimens are the genuine manufacturer.)

Is there much chance that they are actually the same item from the same factory? Or do the Chinese manufacturers put fake branding on their parts?

And lastly, just in general, would you use cheapo chinese ebay fuel injectors of questionable provenance? I like the car and plan to keep it for the foreseeable.

Is it going on a cheap car? Are you prepared to replace them again if necessary?

There's no reason to assume they're genuine, and if they're being sold at a big discount then they certainly aren't, but the fact they're being sold with false branding suggests that the actual brand has a poor reputation.

They might work, but that doesn't mean they'll work well or consistently or reliably.

China well known for cheap copies of genuine products.
Some might be very good & some will be awful.

As you've already bought them you might as well fit them & see how it goes.

If they can be, what would it cost to have your own - presumably genuine? - reconditioned?

There's a little more to it.

My originals actually still work fine, but the plastic housings of the injectors had bonded themselves to the sockets they've lived in for 18 years. As a result, when I removed them (to fix something else) the plastic ends of four of them snapped off.

My plan was (is) to use the plastic housings on the cheap Chinese injectors to repair the broken housings on my genuine ones.

That still is the plan, but if the ones I've received are actually are the legit item, or as good as, I was contemplating fitting them as they are. I'll stick with plan A though.

I bought a set of Ridex (I assume chinese) injectors and tested them on a rig, three performed identically to their Bosch equivalents, the 4th gobbed the fuel out with poor atomisation. Will be buying 5 more and testing them all, hopefully I will get two working sets out of it.

Moral of the story.. buy an extra one and test them..
