Is it just me or does anyone else have annoying creaky seats in their car ?
Have a Mazda 3 with 21,000 miles on the clock and recently heard a creak when steering usually to the left. Initially I thought it was the steering wheel but it's actually the lower part of the seat ( picture attached )
Tried shoving some cloths down the side which has helped somewhat.

any ideas how to get rid of it ?

Lose weight?

Check the bolts are all tight?

As above silicone spray

Make sure there isnt actually something under the seat like a can of deicer thats rubbing.

It seems to be the fabric itself. I will have another look later but from what I recall I couldn't see any springs.
Wonder if it's covered in the manufacturers warranty or if they'd just fob me off ? I'd assume they'd only want to know if something was actually faulty rather than wear and tear

My Golf GTI had a creaky seat when turning right, going round roundabouts etc. It was a warranty fix, they gradually replaced all the parts of the seat like Trigger's broom. In the end I was without the car for weeks as the leather was on back order.

Check that both fore-aft runners are locking. Last creaky seat I investigated was only engaging its teeth on one runner and so the other side was able to creep slightly... and creak.

Is the side bolster against clothing? Or side bolster against the set base fabric. Does the same happen on the inner side, or anywhere on the passenger side?
I have, in the past, had a sound made by clothing against a real leather bolster. I learnt to dismiss that as the ‘sound’ of quality material.

Creaking seat on a Mk6 Golft GTI from a few years ago was a failed seat frame, repaired under warranty.

Also seen a few Focus ST's with pretty similar failures - seat out, covers off, welder on.

What Year is it ?

There was a recall on some Mazdas due to seat frame cracking.
I had my 2008 Mazda 6 done a few Years ago along with passenger airbag.
