I have a 2014 Hyundai i10 on 28,000 miles. Recently it has developed an issue with the transmission.
When in neutral and moving the gear stick left to go into either 1st or second gear, there is some resistance and it isn’t smooth almost like a grinding feeling. Changing from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th is fine. It’s just the sideways action from neutral to 1st or 2nd.
What could this be? No lights on dash, low mileage and serviced regularly. Oil level is fine, I’m unsure how to check transmission fluid level however I’d assume if this was the issue all gear shifts would be stiff?

It could be a linkage problem - do you have someone to wiggle the gear lever while you look at the linkage on the gearbox to see if it's something obvious?

Check the clutch cable under the dash where it clips into the top of pedal.
The bit they use to connect the cable to the pedal has a habit of breaking in half.
Could be the start of it breaking due to the stresses put on it.
When it breaks will be a new cable required

I went out in it today and it was fine no issues, so I’m confused as to what could have changed? It’s been sat on the drive all night.
