Over the last few years, mostly thanks to steering wheel and interior transplants (most recently an Audi A1 interior in my son's Polo) I have a few side and steering wheel airbags to dispose of. All bags are undetonated. Most online advice seems geared towards professionals. Any ideas / experience? I have a friend who works in a bodyshop, so worst case they can go to his place for appropriate disposal - but wondered if any PHers have any experience. TIA.

Attach some longer wire to the 2 wires in the (probably yellow) connector and give it 12V from a reasonable distance thumbup

Balance a brick on top of it and you've got an exciting game of catch on your hands.

Hahaha I almost wrote (in my original post) that I wouldn't be playing with them! But if I did (whilst a friend was sitting on one) would they just go in household rubbish?!

Just missed Bonfire Night - shame as it would have had the benefit of being wireless!

Don't do this in all honestly, you could end up seriously injuring them https://youtu.be/Fr-CNfi04IY

I've taken old ones to the scrapyard before, they shouldn't really be put in general waste.

When back in the motor trade, if we had any to replace, they had to be detonated before return .

Had a cage, and a remote controller to ensure complete safety.

Became a competition to see who could launch something the highest in the end.
