2006 Lexus RX300 gearbox fault

Hello all,
On the above model, I have an engine management light on and also VSC illuminated. My code reader has come up with P0793 Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor A Circuit No Signal. Under light throttle, there is sometimes a noticable 'thunk' when changing from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th.
It went to a well regarded gearbox specialist for a couple of sensors to be changed which they did with genuine parts. I collected the car this morning and ten minutes up the road the light came back on and the thunk returned.
Has anyone experienced this and if so, what was the cure in the end?
