Hi all I have a mk4 but only one key fob, can i get spare blanks cut anywhere? Or will i have to get a full remote key for £150 or whatever it is? I only want a means to open the door if the little fker locks me out again! Cheers

Most key cutting places should be able to do that for you. It may or may not have the ability to start the car but it will certainly be able to lock and unlock the door.

If it's just the physical key, then I've used Timpsons in the past. Once for a Jaguar, once for a Lexus, so can't comment on a Golf, but cost was about a tenner.

Some key cutters might not want to cut a blank you supply but will use their own.

As said, if you just want it to open the door your local Timpsons should be able to cut a blank key, however it won't be able to start the car. For it to do so it require a RFID chip in the key coded to the car.

One PHer used Keerite in Reading - a really old fashioned fangled shoppe.

I'm fairly sure they cut his blank key too,
