I have some rear dampers to change on the father in laws 1993 Mx5 and the springs are awkward to compress with standard claw type compressors due to the springs.
Has anyone used the below type set and can recommend one, most of the ones on eBay etc scare me a little as they are not branded.
Ideally I’d stretch to £100 for a set but anymore than that it makes more sense to just take them to a local garage.

They will be fine for the job. They are strong, loads of garages use them.

Just remember to lightly oil the threads and NEVER use impact tools on them.

MX5 springs are very light pressure so will be no issue.

Rears can quite often be changed without recourse to compressors.

Often the axle/spring perch can be jacked up with the car already in the air & then undo the shock bottom bolt & use the jack to decompress the spring.

I've seen it done but it's not for me I'm afraid!
