Intake improvement
Discussion
Hi all,
I've installed an intake kit on my car (let's not get into why that was or was not pointless...). It has a heat shield which I've also tried to improve by adding additional shielding to the externals. The air is coming in from about 6" away (circled in red below) from the new filter and I fear it may be warming slightly before getting there. Is there any issue with putting some extra silicone hose so that the cold air is blasting directly in to the filter?
Cheers.

Pointing a cold air source at the filter is a perfectly reasonable and sensible thing to do. If you have any possibility of driving through standing water, make sure you aren't also directing flood water at it. Heavy rain is less of a concern but do think about where the air is being collected from and whether rain is going to be dumped onto the filter. Usually you'd avoid that by making sure the air went round a corner so rain can fall out against the wall and drip somewhere harmless.

Thank you. I have the parts waiting for me at home so I'll give it a go later today. Gassing Station | Home Mechanics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
