Hi guys,

Whilst doing my brakes on the 911 I noticed my Jack is really hard to release and seems to have zero control when lowering the car no matter how hard I tried, obviosuly this isn't great and I had a bit of a "oh crap" moment as the chassis landed quite heavily onto the axle stands (no damage thankfully).

It's a SGS jack like the one linked below, I can see there's guides on bleeding the system but not this. Just wondered if anyone has had the same and what can be done (if anything)

I’d skip it personally, their jacks are not the greatest quality really.
I’m not sure if they provide spares anyway to repair.

Chuck away & replace.

It sounds like the internal valve is worn.

SGS seem to push british design but they dont actually say they make their hydraulic jacks in the UK, only that they make their gas struts here.

I would be very surprised if the consumer ranges weren't actually made in china cheaply

Its having infinite control over the lowering valve due to design is one of several reasons i bought a Weber trolley jack to replace an equivalently expensive one i bought near on 35 years ago.

I had an SGS trolley jack fail on me. Fortunately I never go under a car without axle stands but it went straight to the tip and I would never touch any of their stuff again.
