I’ve an issue with my Berlingo in that the washer fluid only comes out a quarter the way up the window. I’ve added new washer jets, but it’s not solved the issue. Any ideas on ways to clean it if it’s blocked?

If the aim is good (so it's a pressure problem not just aimed very low), then you probably have a leak at one of the plastic junctions, splitter t junction under the bonnet fabric is good bet, run it for a long time and look for any water along the piping to the jets. They are push fit so easy to put back on. They can partially come off if its subzero and you run the pump.

If all the piping is good and there's no leaks I would suspect the motor in the washer bottle is not running as well as it should, check ground wire for good connection, if that doesnt fix it then test it with croc clips or similar wire direct to the battery to diagnose if the motor is kauput.

I regularly have an issue with my lotus (probably due to lack of use) where washer hose gets blocked, likely down to bacteria build up. To clear it I pull the hose off at the pump end and remove the other end from the nozzle or non-return valve. I then attached a bike pump to one end and pump the crap out. Worth a go for a few minutes of work.

I'd also add to the above issues a potentially-blocked filter in the pump (at the washer bottle) . On the couple of BMWs I had with this issue that was the cause. The new pump filter was a couple of quid and an easy fit, or it may just need removing and cleaning

Could be the pump that's weak, or the filter (if present) could be blocked.

Most pumps are a push fit into the washer bottle, and there is usually a piece of gauze there that gets clogged, especially if screenwash isn't used.

If you have checked for adjustment, or the spray just looks weak, check the non-return valves that on the pipes to the jets. Inside these are tiny ballbearings on springs that stop the fluid draining back into the tank every time you squirt, the springs rust out and the valve partially blocks the flow.

The way to test is to disconnect the pipe before it goes to the bonnet and see what the pressure is like when you spray. If it's strong, you almost certainly have failed valves.

These are only a couple of quid from a motorfactor or online, and just push fit into the pipe (to replace the failed ones, obvs!)

I recently removed my non-return valve and replaced it with about 20p worth of washer hose. For the 1 or 2 seconds it takes to get the screen wash out, it wasn't worth looking around for a motor factors to stock one when Halfords was open on a Sunday and had it in.

Mum's car had this after being sat for most of covid. It was a non return valve, behind the insulation on the bonnet. Was a lexus but same issue.
