We’ve just left for a touring holiday in Europe and my vans started giving a problem. (Fiat Ducato)
The ignition key, it fits the barrel ok and starts the vehicle but it then flicks back to far and turns the engine off.
It’s as if a super strong return spring has been fitted. Any thoughts?
If it gets worse I’ll have a problem keeping the engine running.

Might be worth getting someone to cut the whole thing including steering lock off and use a few link leads for ignition and crank

If the steering lock happens to click in while you're driving........???????

Maybe a silly question but you haven't got any large keyrings on there or something? best to try it just with the bare key

Yes just using a single key, it doesn't flick back far enough for the steering lock to engage.
Not sure whether a squirt of oil would make it better or worse.
Being a camper it could be lack of use.

Steering locks do not come on until the key is physically removed.
