In a Skoda Yeti. Few error codes, main one says misfire on cylinder 4.

Is there a likely suspect or any way to narrow this down? (I'd take a wild guess at a coil pack but that is all it would be.)

Edit:

I could move a coil pack and see if the error moves??

Yes you could try that, its a common issue and VAG coil packs are almost consumables, I used to carry a spare in the boot.

Thanks. beer Is there a recognised brand that's any good? Looks like two are Bosch and two have no markings.

Swap 4 and 3 coil packs over and 4 and 2 plugs over clear codes and drive - at least 10 miles.

Opie Oils used to sell x4 NGK coils for £100. Grab the plugs too. My S3 ran noticeably better after. And I will throw in the obligatory - check the sump pickup!

Is that not just the old 1.8 20V engine or do the new 1.8 TSI engines suffer this too?

Misread that for a moment and confused myself! Good plan, thanks.

It’s not related to the misfire. It’s just these engines love to sludge up. The dipstick guide also likes to dissolve and it ends in the sump. I have had both the 1.8T and the 2.0TFSI and they both did it.

Got my local friendly garage to order some for yesterday as I wasn't sure if DPD would insist on someone signing for them from EPC today. All sorted and I replaced the other non Bosch one as well. Looking at the numbers on them I suspect the two I swapped are originals from 2011!
