Auto + - option issue

Hi
Can anyone help please?
Just got a 2008 Qashqai 41k 2.0L dci 4x4 Auto
The gearboxes works perfectly in standard PRND mode but the '+ -' manual option wont work at all.
No gear selection indications show on dash either which I believe they should?
Would I be correct in saying it's a Jatco transmission, six speed?
