I have a very similar one for my cycle bits (chain & cassette).

Run it on the heat setting for 30 mins with water soluble degreaser. Works amazingly well.

Just bought a cheap ish 15L off Amazon, ran it with just water, cleaned of most of the surface rust but not great, I’m looking at getting some distilled/de-ionised water in bulk and a filter to recover most of it but unsure of cleaning fluids!

I need to de-rust some small parts (some will be alloy) and degrease others what are people using to mix with the water?

You’re not going to shift rust in an ultrasonic tank unless you fill it with WD40 or similar.

Ordinary WD40 also won't shift rust - you'd want a tub of evaporust or similar to do that. A cleaner/degreaser session first would improve the working life of the evaporust.

If they're rusty, soak them in citric acid and it will clean the rust off. I'm not sure if it alters the strength of the bolt, I haven't had any problems with stuff I've done that way with some suspension and similar bolts. That was in a glass jug, by the way, I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner. Citric acid powder is really cheap on eBay (or it was, last time I bought it) and I mix it to 10% strength in plain water.
