I have never used thread lock so am after some advice.

I have a 1967 Mini which vibrates a fair bit, consequently various bits regularly vibrate loose. Particularly the door hinges, door striker plates etc etc even though they have washers. I am thinking of using a low strength (purple) thread lock on these fixings. It is likely that at some point in the future I will need to undo the fixings. Am I making a rod for my own back using thread lock or is it a good idea?

It's the perfect product for that requirement. Try the low strength and if they still rattle loose, go to medium. Still eminently removeable with hand tools and will help prevent thread corrosion too.

Loctite has got to be stupidly expensive, so I tend to use Bond-It (A43 is the 243 equivalent~ Medium strength) or the RS own brand (T22 Purple/low strength). https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/thread-lock/9082789...

Check the use by date, a lot of ebay/Amazon sellers have expired/short dated stock.

A bit of thread lock it very rarely a bad idea, just not too much, you need alot less than people think

While thread lock is good stuff, surely you should be seeking the cause of the vibration?
Mini weren't that shakey!
