Anyone used euro car parts lately? I need some service parts and they are currently more expensive than Halfords. Have they stopped with the discount codes or should I wait until the next one crops up?

If you don't need to pick them up immediately try carparts4less - you can collect next day, and all the discounts are running over there.

Not used them for ages, tend to get them from verified sellers on eBay now.

Eta, or other online retailers/specialists like Tegiwa, Horsham, etc.

Bit of a pita comparing prices and doing multiple orders and deliveries though.

Not cheap like they used to be sadly.

They give a variety of choices when buying roadsprings, brakes etc...

I'm not sure about the quality of the cheaper versions they offer, I'd be interested if anyone has experience with using them.

Their LUK clutch kits are 20 to 50% dearer than other local parts suppliers, Bennets, MPD, Motorserve....

But for trade accounts, maybe the discount gets higher the more you use them?

They seem quite good for exhaust prices/quality.

PS, helping a friend run a little workshop at the mo.

Incredibly you order online and pick up and they charge you a “collection charge”. Just remember that.

They always seem to have a 50% sale on which brings them in line with everywhere else, assuming you remember to enter the code at checkout.

Bit scammy IMO, smacks of Ryanair style selling where you try to make the customer mistakenly do things.

They are usually the cheapest for clutch kits for us and also cheap on brakes. However I can buy parts off eBay cheaper than I can through work

Halfords tend to be supplied by euros anyway

That does seem really odd. Their discounts and sales always seem to be live, like Sports Direct or DFS.

I'm sure it'll be back on again.

If you know exactly what it is you need, eBay is a lot better nowadays than it used to be and OEM searches will likely yield a result.

It's also broadened my knowledge of other nearby/local motor factors shops, breakers etc if I want to just get down there in person. Sometimes they can be a lot cheaper and more convenient.

I've found dispatch turnaround to be good through eBay and it's always easier to get through to someone via telephone to discuss an item/order compared with ECP.

GSF is another nice go-to national alternative with seemingly endless sales otherwise.

I actually work for a division of ecp and the constant sales have been stopped as it's viewed as devaluing the product and the company.

Motorpartsdirect seems reasonable where you are at least assured of getting genuine parts unlike ebay

Never had that at ECP, although it's been a while

Thank you for that, I don't need to wait around now. looks like Halfords (never thought I'd say that) or online. As ECP were able to discount before, it shows how overpriced they are now, especially for the better quality parts like Mann filters etc.

I've never had a collection charge.

I have found that prices have gone up a lot.

I buy parts from “official stores” on eBay, like these…

https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/officialfordstore

https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/minidirectstore

There’s one for Castrol too, and the OpieOil eBay store is cheaper than their own site.

I keep meaning to create a Wiki on here of them, but not sure it would be allowed.

These days I buy everything from these guys https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/ great service and quick delivery. Euro car parts just got a bit silly. Especially when you go in to the shop and it was more expensive than online.

Plus, at least at one particular branch I go to, the absurd queues and absence of checkout manpower if you don't go before a certain time on a certain day!

Often 3 tills but only one person there, held up by a refund request, someone seeking technical/mechanical advice or someone making an enquiry about which of the five different sets of brake pads he's made them bring out are the best.

Although having said that, some of the small talk, mechanic contacts you can make or benevolent assistance you can get, even with something technical, from a fellow enthusiast or motorhead, make places like ECP a nice experience.

Waiting as long for click and collect is highly annoying. My store is the same where there is only a single person serving and usually a queue of at least 5 or 6 people. It is often an unsatisfactory wait.

Items ordered on click and collect are never ready to go. After confirming the order at the till you have to join the queue for the picker to go get the items.

I've noticed they've gone downhill a lot.

The only reason I use them now is because I can easily go in to store when they inevitably cock up my order.

They have become more and more expensive over the previous months which coupled with the huge lines out the door as the staffing appears to have been reduced means it's a bit of a none starter to use them now.

My local independant motor factors are doing a great trade though and appear to have picked up all the trade which has left ECP. I've always aimed to use them if possible and they've recently started opening all day Saturday which has made it a lot easier. It's always well worth popping into the local factors for a chat as most of the time they're similar money but the service is many times better.

Funnily enough, I ordered a set of front discs & pads and an oil filter, all for my Wife’s C5. None of the prices were what I would consider to be expensive, although I did buy the oil, (20 litres of Petronas), from eBay.

The ECP parts were ordered at around 23:00 last night. I got a call from the Worksop branch mid-morning this morning, then the driver phoned me when he’s five minutes away.

This gives me enough time to phone my Mother, who then opens the gates for the delivery driver, who kindly carries everything through to the kitchen for my elderly Mother.

Frankly Im not messing around wasting an hour shopping around to save myself £20 when the service is always as good as mentioned above.
