Battery coding Skoda Carista Yuasa

Just putting a new battery on my 2017 Yeti.
The original banner battery was coded as JCB not ba2.
I'm putting on a Yuasa battery but Carista doesn't list it so I've set it to 000
The new battery is EFB same as the banner and I've updated the capacity from 069 the 075
The bem code was 111111111 and I've changed that to 111111112

Have I done right to change the make to 000 or should I have just left it as JCB as it was the same EFB technology?

Is it just me that that thinks this battery coding is just a load of manufacturer money making bullst

Can't answer your main question but this one is certainly not true as it has nothing to do with using manufacturers parts etc.

It is so that the intelligent charging system is charging in the right manner for the right battery specification, usage & age.

That way the battery will last as long as possible & be as efficient as it can be in use.

Yes I understand that that is what it should be doing, but when I was doing this coding all that you seemed to be telling it is the Amp hours, nowhere does it set the type wet, AGM, EFB etc and the bem code is set to 111111111 so that's not doing anything.

I dont think it matters about the brand, its the bem code digit change thats important iirc.

I expect that intelligent charging systems will be designed to support a specific battery technology and in that case fitting an incompatible battery is never going to end well. I'd expect it to accomodate changes in battery age and condition, capacity (to a certain extent) but not magically work with every battery on the planet.
