So the dashcam is hard wired and sits right next to the rear view mirror. The base is only about 1cm wide by 4cm long. It fell off within the first few days of ownership. I've tried about 5 different tapes and pads including 3m and gorilla and the nothing lasts longer than a few days.
It recently came back from its service and they had stuck it using something that also failed within 2 days, but has left a greasy / oily residue which has made it even worse.
I'm reluctant to try any type of glue incase I cause some damage to the windscreen.
Any suggestions?
I'd cut the feckin thing out if it was an option as I can't access it anyway.

Clean contact surfaces using an alcohol rub, then warm the contact points before applying plenty of pressure for 30 odd seconds. No reason it shouldn't stick.

As above, the glass needs to be clean and 'naked' of any product.

I know Nextbase list the sticky pads as a spare part so I'd imagine other brands would too...quick browse of ebay should see you well.

Cheers,

I have 3M dash cam pads on my camera and it has worked for 6+ years in the hot US sun. I previously used other 3M products without success.

This. Isopropyl alcohol, aka IPA is the best thing to degrease/clean glass. It's readily available from chemical suppliers in eBay etc, and some chemists sell it too.

Be careful with the amount of pressure when sticking anything to a screen, I've seen several cracked by it.

I have had a similar problem on a less exotic vehicle and tried lots of different things.

One of the keys I have found is to warm both surfaces before applying and holding in place for as long as you can before your arm hurts.

I have a Nextbase camera and couldn't find just the sticky pads available, you needed to buy the whole mount?? I have bought 3m pads from Amazon and they seem to have done the trick - so far.
