Petrol fumes in cabin under hard acceleration
Discussion
Hi all, why would I be getting petrol fumes in my cabin under hard acceleration?
It seems to be coming through the air con vents.
I've found my exhaust has a leak, but this is after the manifold, so can't see how fumes are getting into the cabin.
There isn't a manifold leak so wondering if it could be coming from somewhere around the engine bay.
Thanks

Are you getting petrol fumes or exhaust fumes, you mention both?

Exhaust fumes are petrol fumes aren't they? Are you getting petrol fumes or exhaust fumes, you mention both?
I've taken it to a mechanic, and they found it's the centre section, has a massive hole in it, blowing directly upwards!

Petrol fumes are the vapours that are given off by petrol and are EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE.
Exhaust fumes are the products of combustion in gaseous form that are then sent down the exhaust pipe, they are not flammable but are EXTREMELY TOXIC.
The 307s have a large plastic canister inside the top of the front offside wing that deals with petrol fume emissions.
It should recirculate the fumes into the intake but if it is defective they exit it via a short stub pipe on the canister causing a strong smell of petrol to enter the car via the vents.
Peugeot part number 4228AK154
Need to remove the o/s/f wheel & arch liner to access it.
A very quick google brings this up which speak of a 'charcoal canister' so perhaps the 306 GTi has something similar?

Probably worth you asking for advice on that forum.
