I'm looking at getting a £400ish "all brands" bidirectional scan tool, looking at the usual Foxwell and iCarsoft.

I've tried emailing their customer services to find out the specific capabilities for my current fleet, and have had pretty generic "yeah she'll be reet" type responses rather than "it can do x and y, but we don't support z with that model, you need the next one up to do THAT job on THAT car". Bit frustrating as it's a pretty substantial purchase for a home tinkerer such as myself.

Has anyone bought such a tool, found it didn't really serve their vehicles properly, and had any luck returning it?

I know if I was the reseller I'd be wary of people buying such a tool to do one job then returning it, so no idea how difficult they are when someone has a genuine issue with the capabilities of the device.

I returned an I carsoft. They had a 28 day return policy. You have to buy it from official UK seller direct, not u tube or amazon.

Yes, i bought a topdon one from Amazon & found it was too basic for my car. I returned it for a full refund & bought a more expensive Topdon one, again from Amazon- they do have a genuine no hassle returns service, just make sure that Amazon is the seller.

TBH as per the next post, I would be specifically buying direct from Amazon, their returns policy is second to none, just make sure it is sold by Amazon not a 3rd party.

For I carsoft the device on amazon comes under the catagory of software and is non returnable. Hence buying direct where there is a 28, day no quibble return. That's what I did
