Having some issues with a 2011 Ford Ka which cuts out when slowing to an idle when the engine is hot. Initial plan was a new air filter and maybe clean/replace the idle control valve.

However I appear to be missing an air intake pipe before the filter. Is this important? Could it be the cause of my issue?

If there's an air filter and air flow meter downstream of that then I wouldn't expect that ducting to be important.

There's no MAF, just a throttle-body, and the missing trumpet won't be having any effect. But there's a breather hose under the rear part of the airbox on those Fiat engines, and they have a habit of splitting, that would be the first thing I'd check.
