BMW E46 Heater Issue

I have a 2004 E46 325Ti Sport Compact that has a heater issue .

I have looked at different forums and this is a fairly common problem but nobody has an answer for it.
The heater always send Hot air out even on the lowest setting once the setting has been tuned up from 16 deg and then it wont go down. It has nothing to do with fan speed as that works through out its range but the faster the more heat comes in.

If I leave the heater control on 16 Deg before starting I dont get any hot air but once its turned up the heat comes on and stays on.
I have replaced the Water Valve and also the Air Condition Control Unit but it has had no effect.

With E46 heater problems,1st call is usually the 'hedgehog' fan resistor

that is not the issue as the hedghog controls the fan which is working fine

Might be talking absolute rubbish but when I took my e46 to a local speciaist, I am sure they mentioned that there is a sensor in one of the middle vents

It might be that if it plays up (and that it does actually exist)

As above, cabin temperature sensor isn't working.

When on min it isn't looking for it, it is just on no heat.

As soon as you put the heat on it is looking for the temperature sensor to get up to temperature, but if it doesn't the heat just keeps coming out.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with the vent in the middle of the dash
I had a mate to look at it and whatever he did seems to have solved the issue
He has not told me what it was but I will have a word with him next week
