Has anyone noticed?

How crap opie oils are at delivering quickly, anymore? I blindly ordered some fresh oil and a filter for my M5 after the injector sticking open incident and didn't pay attention to the email detailing how _long_ it will take to dispatch. Six days to even dispatch, six days!

I know it's a first world problem, but really....

Not bought from them for some time as they don’t seem to be that competitive price wise any more. I’ve been using Cox Motorparts or Arnold Clark for Audi specific oil the last couple of years, way cheaper than Opie for what I’ve been after.

They've always been crap and no longer well priced

I tend to get oil & filters via Amazon now and never had any issues

I bought from them a few weeks ago and they weren't good at all. I spoke to them on the live chat twice and the guy explained they had a pallet waiting to be emptied which had been sitting there for over a week. A week later nothing had changed so I placed an order thinking they might get a move on and it still took over another week before they despatched it. The oil was on offer tho (Millers), so was considerably cheaper than elsewhere.

That's why I ordered from them, the CFS NT was pretty reasonably priced. But I value timeliness also, as I want to get the car back on the road this week.

ive used Opie Oils once, about 2 months ago.
Ordered online on the Sunday night, arrived Thursday.

That was 4l of VW spec oil and 5l of Ford spec oil. I chose them because of the wide range of decent brands. All the motor factors places near me only stocked cheap brands that I'd never heard of.

Does anyone know the source of their oil?

Call me cynical but I can’t see why you wouldn’t just buy Mannol off eBay if the source / brand doesn’t concern you.

The time to despatch has definitely increased. Once it's shipped it's pretty quick.

Have a read of https://ukla-vls.org.uk/ and you might think twice.

Indeed. Westway and Mannol both have products listed as found to be non-compliant.

Personally I think Mannol is also a good product but it's manufactured in Germany whereas Westway oils are manufactured in the UK and I like to buy British if I can.

Also, you can buy directly from Westway's site and they try to deliver next day using DPD deliveries. I try not to buy anything which will turn up delivered by either Evri or Yodel.

To answer your question the oil brand doesn't concern me too much as long as the oil meets the correct spec. I don't have a clue where their virgin base oil comes from and can only guess from a refinery the same as everybody else’s, but I don't know.

Been using Mannol for years, but this sort of thing has started to concern me. I will be buying Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 rather than Mannol Elite 5W40 this time and hang the extra £8.95 it costs.

I used to work as an IT contractor for Shell in the late 90s/early 2000s and their Lubricant Quality System database was written by my compant, so I know the level of testing that goes into their products.

However as one is brake fluid & one is central hydraulic fluid I will still keep using their engine oils which were found compliant after testing unless I am reading something wrongly.

I bought a few gallons of engine and transmission oil from Opie a couple of weeks ago and was very happy with the price and delivery times.
