Hi all - in a bit of a bind… my RX450h Lexus power tailgate has decided not to open. A bit of investigation points towards a knackered wiring loom where it comes from the roof into the tailgate via a rubber sheath.

Who on earth could get this confirmed and fixed quickly? Naively I thought a google of auto electrician near me would reveal many men with vans willing to come and help… it didn’t.

Help please!

Moving house next week so terrible timing too…

Detached 12v battery and reconnected - now works. But found the 12v sitting in a inch of water... oops.

Assuming your battery is the same place as my 2025 NX (under the boot floor), does that mean you've got a massive lake under the boot? Any idea where it's come in from? It's not the kind of place you look at very often, I should maybe check mine occasionally. My old Skoda had a silly frameless rear window design so when you opened the boot any water on the glass ran off straight in to the boot and pooled under the spare wheel, I've not noticed any water running in to my NX like that.

As an aside, what year is yours and have you had to replace the 12V battery? I saw something online about 12V battery failures being quite common and people removing the battery monitoring wire, which causes the car to always charge it when driving rather try to minimise the charging to save energy which seems to be what knackers the battery.

It's on the passenger side under the boot floor right at the back. The rest of the underfloor looks wet too, but it's pooled at the lowest point under the battery... It's 2010, so a fair bit older and suspect could be many things - perished seals, tail lights, windscreen etc... I'm not looking forward to working it out! Original battery lasted 10 years until 2020, when I bought it, then that one is still going ok. So I guess 5-10 years...
