I have a 2010 Yeti 1.8tsi with an error code suggesting cam or crankshaft timing error. It's just had new timing chain/tensioners and a replacement head so I'm confident (ie really desperately hoping!!) it's not a stretched chain.

It's running ok but has been lacking power low in the rev range and has become harder to start (a few seconds vs instant) and a check engine light has come on.

Google says this error corresponds to VAG 16400/P0016 error and points to the G40 camshaft position sensor or G28 crankshaft sensor. But "bank 1 sensor a" suggests an O2 sensor.

Any idea where to start? I can return it to the people who fixed it, but if it's straightforward I'd rather just sort it myself.

Think I have my answer. The camshaft sensor plug looked a bit grubby so I sprayed some contact cleaner on it and made sure it was properly plugged in and it's now fine! bounce

For future reference, I believe the rev counter obtains its data input from the crank sensor (on most cars, that is - don't know specifically your vehicle). It also prevents the vehicle from starting, if its not outputting a signal.
