Aygo gear selection

No idea what's happened but I can't always select gears in my 16 Aygo.

I've attempted to adjust the clutch cable to no avail.

You can get all the gears occasionally, and then for no reason it will refuse to go in, especially on downshifting.

Is it just the cable adjusted incorrectly or could it be a gearbox fault?

What is the mileage? Still on original clutch?

It could be either, or it could also be the gear selector cables need alignment.

Google it for your car to see if there is an easy way of doing it.

It is generally something on the lines of.

Put car in neutral.

Remove a clip from the gearbox end of one of the cables.

Refit the clip.

It may be that battery etc needs removing for access, but that is individual to the car.
