Turbo pipe/hose - OEM or random aftermarket
Discussion
Would you replace damaged turbo hose witha) OEM from manufacturer at £80 (but who knows what age) or b) random ebay at £20 (or £40 or £60) - but no specs or obvious manufacturer namec) try my friendly autoparts place when they open on Monday.Run of the mill car - 2014 Mondeo 1.6Diesel - engine/hose fits Fords & Volvos 2011-2015 (so presumably fairly common). If it was a sports car I might go OEM - but also having bought New-Old-Stock radiator hoses for a sports car in the past (so different car and different application) and seeing that fail I'm tempted to gamble on the cheaper one. Thoughts appreciated? Anyone had a cheap turbo hose fail?Is anything ok?Or as its the only thing that has broken in 12 years and 120k miles should I do the right thing and stick wit the Ford parts bin
Thanks - only just seen this, but that's exactly what I did earlier today. My local old school parts place have ordered one for tomorrow..Cause of damage is a bit odd - it must have rotated approx 1/8 of a turn. As the hose is dog-legged that is enough to cause contact with a welded seam. Hose and clip seemed otherwise OK.I can't think why it has happened now though. I wll just have to check the new hose periodically.
