How to buy brake pads
Discussion
Sort of a dumb question I know. Never bought any before. The PR number in the service book is 1KW but whenever I put in the reg details into any of the major sites (or ebay) it also shows me pads that link to a different PR number 1KY.
Will the 1KY be compatible ?
AUDI A6 C7 Saloon (4G2, 4GC) 2.0 TDI
Very grateful indeed for any informed replies....

I would never trust ebay, euro etc from the reg.
I would trust the PR code more. I would always try measuring disc the best u can through the wheel if needed and getting a rough idea of what the pads look like.
The PR code should also be on a sticker in spare wheel well to double check

Go to answer for car parts, try "Partsinmotion" either their own site or their ebay store.
If you supply the registration in the "notes to seller" on eBay, they will check and confirm the fitment. If they get it wrong, you get free returns, and the correct ones sent out on 24h delivery, no no extra money.
I have ordered many things from them, they got a cambelt kit wrong. I had the right one by about 9:30 the next day, and a sticker to put on the old one for return.
If you don't know what you're buying, I find it's best to take the pads out and take them into the shop to confirm.
You will likely see what the pads look like on the parts website to compare too.
After that, you'll know which ones fit and can order them before you do the job a second time. Depending on how long you keep your cars, it might be worthwhile to have spares.
Taking pads off first also gives an idea of whether you'll encounter any complications.
Front and rear will likely be different parts.
