Kia rio 2014 1.25 petrol dilemma

Looking for a bit of advice and people’s opinions.
My son has a 2014 Kia Rio 1.25 petrol. He’s experiencing a lack of power in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears, although 1st seems fine.
The engine idles normally, but when accelerating there seems to be a noticeable loss of power, along with a metallic noise when revving.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be something like a timing chain issue, or possibly something else?
Any thoughts or similar experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks!

That description really doesn't help to narrow it down unfortunately & I am guessing that neither of you are mechanically minded enough to start working on it yourself.The engine idles normally, but when accelerating there seems to be a noticeable loss of power, along with a metallic noise when revving.
Best advice would be to get it into a garage ASAP before any further damage is done.

On the move with the symptoms you describe brake calipers would be my first look.
