Is there a year and onwards where these don't rust like a Lancia Beta? I'm considering a 2012 model and although it is pristine now I don't want to get a couple of years down the line and it starts to turn orange. I'd rather avoid a vw t5 as the trendy extreme sport wannabes have pushed the prices upwards.

The very early ones were a problem but the new ones are fine if looked after

After a bit of digging around it seems 2007 is the year the bodywork improves.

Not sure about that seen a few 10 and 11 plates with bad rust on them.

the basic white ones seem to suffer more than the metalics

Funny that. I used to be into the old shape Saab 900's and the white ones used to rust a lot more than other colours

More confusion then. They are supposed to be fully galvanised from late 2006.

A friend had to have her 60 plate brabus sport x arches painted due to rust, and its starting again 18 months down the line. Seen a few others bubbling too, not sprinter bad, but still terrible for something that price.

Vito's are utter rotboxes pretty much like anything Mercedes have produced since about 1990.

Unfortunately any respray to tidy them up, even on quite a new one, is just a quick fix as the rust will soon be back. Once the rust in in there, it's in there.

I have a 06 plate panel van in silver which is completely rust free, as said the white ones seem the worst.

Fully galv.

My 2007's not rusted even where it's been scratched down to the metal by scrotes with screwdrivers forcing the door locks and left for several years

could write you a fkin list of other things wrong with it, mind, but rust ain't one of them. It's purple though- like said maybe they did a cheaper job on white 'uns

Rust problems ! Pah !
How about a 65 plate 114 bluetec with 17000 miles on the clock that seized up one mile after start up yesterday morning , correct oil , full of coolant no warnings .
Great start to the day .
Not an uncommon problem according to the Merc Care technician who came to fix it .

Mine is a silver 2009 and there is not a single spec of rust on it (yet).
