To cut a long story short, we've been invited down to Cornwall for a weekend with some friends. Original plan was to stay in a B&B, but now they're suggesting camping. I'm open to the idea, but haven't done it for years, and don't have a tent.

My wife has said it might be nice to get one so we could go away ourselves (although I'm not 100% convinced she's the camping type), so I'm not keen on spending too much money (at least at this stage). My question is, could we get a reasonable tent for under £100. Ideally room for 2 adults, 1 Labrador and a bit of living space. Or with this budget, will anything we get leak like a sieve and collapse in anything more than a strong breeze?

All advice appreciated, thanks smile

ETA: Realise my 2 adults + lab + living space for under £100 is wildly optimistic, at least from new...

Yes in short.

I sold a 5 man tent with 2 rooms / living area which would be more than enough for £100 recently. Look on facebook for sale or gumtree. second hand market for tents isn't that good put a cheeky offer in and what's the worst they could say. If not ebay would be a good shout.

You could look at go outdoors for new but I'd look at the above first.

Really you want a 4 man tent to be comfy with the dog minimum.

Head to Halfords and have a look - plenty to choose from. Failing that, see if there's a Decathlon near to you - loads of choice, and plnety that would be big enough for the three of you in your budget.

I have one of these, pretty good for the money. Ours is about 8 years old and still going strong. We also have a dog, but wouldn't want to stay in it much more than a weekend.

We have a massive glamping tent but also a pop up decathlon tent which is ace if I'm alone.

It's a three man'er and they do bigger ones that pop up

Gumtree/Facebook et al are a good shout. Recently picked up a 6 man Vango for £15. Cost me an extra £20 or so for some new ripcord to repair a couple of poles and some cleaner/re-proofer. We'll use it this summer to see how we go but could probably move it on again and get our money back.

Thanks all for the replies. I like the look of the Coleman, but will have a scour of gumtree first and see if there's anything nearby worth looking at.
