Caravan tyres going flat
Discussion
Our caravan tyres are approx 60 psi each side. The problem is that they don't stay inflated and within a couple of weeks, can be down to under 40. Since being in storage since the beginning of Nov, they're down to just over 20 so I need to get something done about them.
Van is only 5 years old, but it seems that both tyres are affected. Is it best to get them reseated or the wheels refurbished?. They have Tyron bands fitted if that makes a difference.

A couple of possibilities, the valves may be perished, we have to fit new valves to a couple of trailers that don't get used much, if you wriggle the valves this will highlight it, the same applies to the tyres although not usually to the point where they leak. Alloy wheels can corrode & again lack of use allows corrosion to creep down to where the tyre bead seats.
Have the tyres been replaced ever on the van?
Recommended change time is five years on a van, given the weight and pressures they run at with the consequence of a failure.
Tyron bands shouldn't make any odds to the pressure issue you're having, but do make for a time consuming tyre change for the fitter, having seen the job done.
