Cadac Safari Chef Bag

I have bought a Cadac Safari Chef to replace our Carri Chef as it takes up much less room when packed and is big enough to cook for the family. It came with a paella pan in a separate bag. There is room for it in the main carry bag, but the handles on the paella pan mean I would have to cut a hole for it to fit. Has anyone successfully cut a hole in the carry bag without it fraying away?
