Replacement fg poles
Discussion
I want to reduce the packed size of one of my tents, to make it more wieldy for cycle/motorcycle touring. It is a 3 man dome tent with a tunnel sleeping area; 2 cross-over poles for the 6' dome and two parallel ones for the tunnel.
I am considering replacing the existing poles with ones made up of shorter sections; has anyone done this, and were there any drawbacks? I realise that due to the increased number of metal joining sleeves, there will be a small increase in overall weight, but do I need to be concerned about the accompanying reduction in flexibility? Should I go for a slightly smaller section to compensate for this?
TIA
