Campsite for Same Sex Group - South Coast or Midlands
Discussion
Hi All
I was supposed to be going to Prague with some old school friends at the end of July, although we are still hoping to go, we won't be able to go if the 14 day quarantine is still in place or if the Czech Republic is still not accepting tourists. We are therefore considering a back up plan which would be camping for the weekend.
Can anyone recommend a campsite within a few hours of london that would accept a same sex group (6 people) with a reasonable pricing structure for each person having their own small tent (2-3 man)
Thanks
(Sorry if this has been done to death previously, I tried the search but it seems to have got even worse now you cant search by section)

Have a look on https://www.pitchup.com/ good search engine.
However given that:
1) It's not yet certain when they will be open
2) It will be school holidays. Campsites are busy as it is then, regardless of Covid killing the foreign holiday market, unleashing demand from people who would not normally camp in the UK
3) Site owners' focus may be on allowing 'same family' bookings to maintain 'bubbles' - Govt may try to impose this. Good luck with that. #Cummings
4) Same sex groups are sometimes frowned upon because you might be a stag/hen party. Yep, I know, sweeping generalisation. Maybe best to book as 3 x groups of 2
5) Toilet/shower facilities possibly closed as they will struggle to enforce social distancing. Have you got your own PortaPotti?
6) There is talk of reduced capacity to allow greater pitch spacing - not helpful considering point 2
... you might struggle to find somewhere suitable.
On the flip side, the campsites I follow on social media are gagging to get open safely, they've missed half their season, they want and need money.
We're currently discussing the prospect of going away in July as we could feasibly be as self-contained as we are at home in our caravan, provided we can refill fresh water and empty the chemical bog, both of which can easily be done safely at social distance on every site I've been to in 40+ years of camping.

1) I know, hence looking for one that offers cancellation.
2) True, hence we are looking to book now, despite uncertainty on them being open.
3) See above on the cancellations, depending on what the opening requirements end up being.
4) I did consider this, but would rather book somewhere that allowed same sex groups. Once we arrived it would be pretty obvious we were together, and I wouldn't want to get kicked off site on the first day.
5) We'll only be doing this if toilet facilities are available. Current government guidance doesn't require toilet facilities to be closed, so a campsite that did close their facilities could find themselves putting of customers that they could have welcomed.
6) Again, hence the aim to get prebooked now.
Woodyhyde campsite in Dorset lets you pitch where you like so even you booked separately you could all camp together. Last time I was there there were groups camped together.
The search facility on ukcampsite.co.uk allows filtering by "pub" and "adult-only" sites which may be more amenable to group bookings.

The big question is the bogs/showers. These are the main communal feature of most sites. My gut feel is reopening with reduced capacity with these facilities closed. On the positive side, once you've emptied a chemical bog once, it never gets any worse!
