Webber Traveller BBQ , direct to Caravan BBQ point
Discussion
I have just bought a Webber Traveller folding BBQ with the intention of connection direct to the caravan BBQ point ,It is designed around using disposable cartridges
I seems Webber do not supply a suitable connector or hose that can be used , only dedicated hoses for connecting direct to a gas cylinder , at a cost of around £50 , I don’t want to buy or carry around an extra cylinder .Anyone got around this problem ?
Suggestions I should have got a different BBQ will be ignored

Any 500g gas cartridge will do , best price around £26 for 6 pack which is twice the price of Calor propane/butane prices (Amazon)
Now spoken to Webber customer service , they do not supply an adaptor to connect hose , and they do not recommend connecting to caravan gas supply , if done may invalidate warrantee .
I suppose ebay and look for a s/h 5kg patio gas cylinder which is more expensive for a refill than a 6kg propane £5 per kg compared to £6 per kg for patio gas , although the patio gas cylinder is lighter .
So for caravanners gas supply is to be considered

Thanks for link , I have seen it , unfortunately it is a female connector whereas the BBQ requires a male connector as seen in these images

Hmmm.
Looks like Cadac use the same canisters. So: https://thebbqshop.co.uk/Gas%20BBQ%20Fittings/bbq-...
Don't know why this is distracting me so much!

I have now had a closer look at the connections to the BBQ , and now can see why Webber do not recommend connection to a caravan gas point .
From the photo it can be seen that the BBQ already has gas a regulator fitted , so takes gas a full cartridge/cylinder pressure . Connecting gas to the input of the regulator from the caravan would put 2 regulators in series .
Next thought was to remove the regulator and feed caravan gas ( already pressure controlled by the on board gas regulator )directly to the gas control . I checked the Webber regulator , and it is a 29mb regulator , whereas the caravan regulator is 37mb , so higher by about 25% , not ideal . So for the time being I think it will be 500g cartridges until I can find a cheap patio gas cylinder on ebay

That is a regulator, 2 in-line wouldnt be ideal IMO... the pipe they sell to a patio gas bottle is just a clip on, the regulator is at the BBQ endFrom the photo it can be seen that the BBQ already has gas a regulator fitted , so takes gas a full cartridge/cylinder pressure . I am guessing your caravan runs Propane as its 37mb, Butane is 28mb (patio gas seems to be the same)
Personally I would just chop into that pipe behind the regulator and put a straight connector, a new hose and a BBQ point connector in (which is basically how my Cadac works but without any messing about hacking into stuff)

In essence I have done what you suggested , I removed the regulator , and fed caravan gas directly to the gas control ( needed a L/H thread union to connect to control ) and to save always having a length of gas hose connected, I have used a slide lock straight through connector , so the hose can be disconnected coiled and stored separately .Just took a while to get all the brass together . the way I have done it , the BBQ can be returned to OEM , should there be a warrantee problem
Got there in the end !

Hi, any chance you can let me know the size of the fitting you needed to connect directly to the controller. Trying to do the same myself
I cant remember the size of the coupling to the bbq control , it may be 1/4 inch but must be l/h thread I will trawl l back through My Amazon orders later and find the link and come back MXRod said:
