Hi just considering buying a VW T5 camper. Can anyone advice if it's possible to attach roofbars to a pop up roof to unable me to carry a Kayak ? Only to transport to camp and back . Thanks in advance...

Depends how big the pop up section is. The official VW one that opens like a one sided accordion will work with roof bars. One I had, had a fibreglass shell on top which went to the edges of the roof- ergo no gutter access to attach bars.

Yes, it'll be fine. Different roofs have different ratings so you need to be a bit careful but a kayak will be fine. I have Reimo Active rails on my (Reimo) roof with Yakima aero bars and carry a few surf boards or a roof box regularly.

Yeah as above, it does vary from to roof to roof, my HiLo is 50kg’s but I’ve never tested that limit.

Had a T5, was rubbish for camping, too small. Bought a Peugeot Boxer instead, much better van for camping as the bed goes sideways

We have a LWB T5 and the bed is at the front, so we have a full width king size bed, all of the cupboards/cooker etc are at the back.

This makes it surprisingly roomy.
