I don’t find green as good as the blue stuff, but have a SOG vent fitted which helps so I have stuck with green (for now!).

We use the green, never had any issue. I just use more so I don’t get to see the lumps.

It depends if they have septic tanks. Green is much more friendy to them.
One site i went to made you empty your cassette into a seperate container if it had blue in it.

I've tried all sorts, Thetford blue and double sachet dose for me, I guess I'm a planet killer, but then so are my wife's poos.

Thetford Green works perfectly well for us (with their Pink in the flush tank)... it's an almost pleasant pine forest aroma, can't stand the smell of that blue stuff.

Currently using One Chem Pro-Biotic, it’s really impressive - very concentrated, eco friendly, can go in the flush as well as the main tank, does a good job of breaking down solids. The bottle has a really handy dosing measure, it’s a winner for me having tried most of the available brands.

We have a rule...No number twos in the loo.

Always use the facilities on site.

Number ones are acceptable though.

If you’d seen the state of the khazis at the music festival we’ve just returned from you’d most likely change that rule! hehe

Two or three times a year we go to the Caravan Club site in Thetford Forest near Swaffham . There are no facilities on site
So the chamical loo is essential for ones and twos .

Why do you think it's called Thetford Forest? Do bears etc?

The Thetford blue sachets are great. Drop one in the top and job done.

Green doesn’t deal with my turds and when I bought my covid caravan I promised myself I’d never ever be a walk to the communal bogs in a dressing gown and crocs person.

What’s the point in having your own bathroom and not using it?

Agreed use your own as sometimes the shower block isnt the cleanest.
Saying that if all tidy i dont see the point of double handling. Why use another container when the human one is pretty good already.

In general I prefer Elsan Blue fluid if there are no issues with emptying. Find it’s a pleasant fragrance and does an awesome job at covering up any unpleasant smells as well as breaking down anything you don’t want to re-see.

Only problem with it is a) the container for it is massive so takes up valuable storage space and b) lots more sites are now pushing the green stuff.

Since owning the BoxDrive I’ve taken to using Thetford blue or green sachets. As the tub fit nicely in the toilet hatch and therefore doesn’t take up any extra space in the garage. Not as good as the Elsan but not too bad and saves splashes from pouring liquid when it’s windy.

When I was fulltiming in the Concorde though, it was Elsan blue all the way. Did keep one (of the two spare) cassettes primed with Elsan green for trips up to the NC500 in case there were only septic tanks available.

I’m also one who will always use the internal facilities on the van. Value my privacy and practicality of having it on board. Ditto the shower. Find so many campsites restrict either the heat of the water or water pressure, I’d rather shower in comfort in the van, even if that means one extra refill of water on a trip.

So glad you’ve posted that! Thought it was just me!

Tried the Elsan green this summer after a caravanning friend was horrified I was still using double blue,

We went to a 4 day music festival as a family of 5 & it quickly became apparent the Green wasn’t up to the “job” so I had to dash out & find a bottle of the trusted double blue to take care of things!

Use the Green myself, the environment being the main reason. It’s not just for septic tank preservation but all chemicals end up in the waterways somewhere which I find abhorrent.

I get why people still use the blue though, it’s easy, but I think the simplest way to remove the nasty chemicals from the environment is to just ban it.
