Collective PH Motorhome wisdom, some help please…..

Unfortunately my tenure with the Knaus BoxDrive 600XL is coming to an end. It’s a wonderful van but a real indulgence given it only fits four out of the five of us and with lots of adventures planned for the family, we need a bigger rig and have narrowed in on the replacement. The problem is, both coming from a very well specced Concorde and now this which i had set up for my offgridding, the new rig will need a fair bit of modification.

Specifically, my shopping list includes (for the very near-term), dual 11kg Gaslow which supplying dealer can fit and may do a deal on. Unfortunately supplying dealer can’t do much else, especially lithium upgrade.

So also fairly immediately, I’d like to change the existing 2x 95aH gel leisure batteries for a c. 230aH (or larger, depending on if I can get it fitted) LifePo4 and 50amp B2B charger.

Longer term (or depending on how much I have left over after purchase), semi-air suspension to increase payload by around 500kg and Thule Elite G2 four-bike rack for the rear.

Does anyone have any recommendations for competent workshops in the Essex/Cambs/Herts area who could do all of the above? Failing that I see Rhino installs could do it all but a bit of a schlepp from Saffron Walden.

Derisory PX agreed with the dealer on the Knaus but still time if anyone fancies a steal.

We bought our van from Just Go/RV Supercenter in Toddington, they fitted the twin Gaslow, Truma AC, Outside shower socket, external BBQ point, outdoor electric socket and various other accessories, nearly 3 years ago and it's all working great. We take it back every year for it's hab service and have always been happy with the service. Might be a bit further than you're looking though.

Thanks for the heads up on those guys. Sounds interesting. Only just over an hour away so definitely do-able and better than a 3hr hoik up to Preston.

Keep 'em coming!

I think a lot will depend on how much discount we secure on the "brand new second hand" to quote Mat Armstrong van that we're buying and what needs doing vis a vis servicing/cambelt and tyres. I think I've got about £3-4k net of PX against Settlement Value so if we can afford everything in one shot, Preston looks more workable. Let's see.

All very exciting. Family is going crazy over the adventures we have planned for this year and into next (Holland - Feb half-term, Austria - Summer hols & France for skiing in Feb 26).
