I have a '96 diesel Bongo which is now a bit long in the tooth with 300k miles on the clock. Engine and box still work well but I'm tired of crawling underneath every MOT time with the MIG torch, I don't need that now at my age (76).

I thought about a VW Caddy Maxi with the innards from the Bongo, I just wondered what the consensus was on the Caddy. As I'm 'flying solo' these days I don't need anything bigger.

Comments welcome, thanks.

Just watched a YT video on a newly-converted Fiat Doblo. All the bells and whistles including toilet, tv, and microwave. Very nicely done, but I'd definitely forego all those items for extra space/storage. I guess it's the sort of size you're looking at though, so maybe another option?
I'll stick with my converted Toyota Alphard myself.
Good luck with the hunt.

I looked at an Alphard at Just Japanese in Wigan, it was a bigger van than my Bongo but didn't seem that roomier inside. I never thought of a Doblo, I need to broaden my horizons.

My preferred import would be a Regius if i could find a good one at decent money although I'm not sure if they do a diesel.

The search continues !!
