There was someone converting one of those on PH.

I've been giving campervan/motorhomes (for our retirement ...) quite a lot of thought and I think this sort of thing brings as many problems as it solves.

They're enormous to start with which limits places you can go in it. Spares have potential to be an issue, and getting it stuck doesn't bear thinking about. Fuel costs and other consumables could bankrupt you too.

They are very cool though!!!

And a suitably specced offroad Actros will do much the same things and is a much much easier and nicer thing to start from and live with.

There's a blue 8x8 one on Social Media. What a beast.

We saw one on a campsite in Croatia. The Ducati Multistrada on the back was literally 8ft in the air. 5ft tall wheels. Everything around it looked like a Tonka toy.

A LOT more... However, it's fair to say the Bobby and Marie haven't had to pay full price for everything.

HX60 seems to be the go to, above Actros/etc. Not suited up uk/Europe, but plenty of places in the world it's the only thing I'd want to be in.

One day I'll mini version using a Fuso as a base.

You see a lot of this sort of thing in Morocco where's there's a lot more space to play with them. Who you call when you get bogged ion the sand I've no idea. A few I've snapped...

A shout goes out on the groups, anyone nearby goes to help.

Bobby and Marie are currently in France iirc, but last week detoured to go help rescue someone who'd been stuck for nearly a week in mud. Took all day, and a bunch of local manual labour, but they got them out.

Germans do these a lot, in fact my boss has done one which has now broken down in the middle of the US and none of the garages will touch it.
