Stars Wars books recommendations

Local market bookstall has a nice collection second of Star Wars books and would like a go at these. One piqued my interest was X Wing/Wedge. Any other recommendations?

The only ones I really likes were the three "Tales Of ..." short story collections.

Each is a short story set around a well known event/place from the original films, told from a different view point. It really flashes out some minor characters well.

The X-Wing/Rogue Squadron series are probably my favourite.
Death Troopers is a zombie novel in the Star Wars universe.
The ones with Admiral Thrawn - Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command are quite good, too.

I think anything by Timothy Zahn is worth a read, it seems to be his books I've enjoyed the most.

IIRC Kevin Hearne (author of the Iron Druid series) has done a couple - if so I'd venture to suggest that they'd be well worth a looksee

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire.

The Thrawn Trilogy really floated my boat, read it a very long time back though.

Timothy Zahns Heir to the Empire kicked off the Star Wars EU about 20 years ago, and is still the best trilogy, Admiral Thrawn is one of the best creations in all the books.
The XWing series is a great side step and follows a minor film character. Definitely recommend both these.
Zahn also did a 2 parter Thrawn book as a follow up (The Hand of Thrawn). Most books followed a timeline - now defunct thanks to Lucas selling to Disney, but at the time nothing happened in a book that affected/rewrote the timeline.

Really enjoyed those, especially the 'Tales from Jabba's Palace'.

Off topic Timothy Zahn's Conquerors trilogy is well worth a read too.

My faves of the 'old' lot were the Thrawn books.

But I wouldn't bother with any of the 'legends' series now, I am gonna read the new canon stuff.
Aftermath, and the one set just before the new film.


Though, the zombie book has intrigued me.
