Having just finished listening to the book on Audible I am just a little bit moved by the experience. Probably because we are the same age, had a sporty Peugeot at the same time, have a strong connection with Bristol, I was hooked on this book. I admire the clear fact he does not let the public in on his Homelife and the more subtle elements where he doesn't dish the full dirt on the walking talking ginger ahole that I know to be Mr Evans.
If Clarkson is God, Chris Harris is Jesus Christ.
He'd like that. I recommend VVT to forum members. It's worth a listen/read.

I started reading this last night, and am really enjoying it. A couple of very touching moments, as well as ones that made me howl with laughter (I won’t spoil it, but the behaviour of his pal in the Elise “incident” was particularly amusing).
Harris comes across well - appreciative of a comfortable upbringing and articulate. He conveys quite a few emotions I’ve felt about growing up loving cars and consuming the motoring media; Car & What Car magazines to him is what Evo and Top Gear were, to me.

He's a fantastic walking advert for Britishness. And indeed modern Britain. An uplifting book.

I've just started reading it and I'm gripped already. It was the What Car? magazine stats at the back in the early 80's that got me obsessed with performance figures too. I'm still as obsessed with performance stats of cars even at the age of 50 now as well.

He's an adopted non-white kid given the top spot on the BBC. His life should have been st but there he is in a 911 living an amazing life and being self deprecating. I really like the guy and his life mirrors mine very closely but I am not sure we can thank Britain for his success.

Same! Just started listening to this...sadly I am backed up massively on my Audible subscription (my fault for downloading heaps of free books aswell, along with 25hr behemoths). To be fair to Spotify there are some really good books in there although I am not sure I will get my geeky WW2 history fix here aswell
