Very nice car but 4mpg is a bit much even for track use,i think i would still rather have the 360CS or 911 GT3 though

It was made for Leman, where fuel in plentiful stops regular. The most overwhelming factor is its top speed, (which is no joke at 212mph) and this is good for pulling away and winning races.
So inshort the GT40 is a fuel efficent machine, in some sort of twisted way.

"It was made for Leman"

We are talking about the Ford GT, not the 60's one.

Its the ford GT that does 4mpg but i called it the GT40 by mistake and pissed everyone off.clarkson seems fairly happy with it.Its a shame they making so few of them though made in greater numbers it would be a popular car

Absolutely. Also since it was faster than the Ferrari but we know those Top Gear track times don't mean much.

Yeah, but they didn't say what sort of fuel consumption you'd get out of a 360 when being thrashed on a track - probably not a huge amount more than that!

I remember commenting on how good the sound was when JC drove it in America but it just didn't quite sound the same in this test, JC commented on how quiet it was at 110mph. Even Autocar were disappointed with it's sound.........what's changed?

According to Autocar they had to make it quieter for US regs. However the original sport exhuast will be an option on all European cars...............

I want one. 140mph in 3rd
