Satellite TV in a Motorhome

Has anyone got any idea how hard it will be to bodge up a Satellite TV connection on the side of a Motorhome using domestic satellite kit.
Planning real luxury for this years Le Mans

Should not be a problem if you stabalise the van. Assuming you know how to find whatever sattelite you are looking for?

Quite a few motor homes at LeMans do this. Just really need a compass and a steady mount. Also the TV needs to be viewable from outside the motor home

If you havn't a suitable mount, you can use a mike stand, or something along the same lines, and a few house bricks/breezblock to weigh it down. Compass is handy but elevation is the key. Get the elevation correct and point roughly the right way, bit to the left, bit to the right etc and it should come good. If you don't have stabilisers you can sit very still and hope its not windy or get a couple of bottle jacks and bits of wood for spreaders/increase hieght etc. Try it on your drive first. With a small dish you may not need stabilisers, if you are going to use the roof. Of course you don't need them if you use the ground.

A walk in the park, just follow the instructions and use a compass, I've set mine up on the boat befor the only drawback is that I have to be in a marina at the time as I can't afford the 10's of thousands for a gyro stabilised version

We are still trying to get the kit together, we need a dish/LMB unit, and the cable to the decoder, any idea what direction the thing needs pointing in to get EuroSport?
We'll be in Houx 474/5/6 if anyone knows what their doing feel free to lend a a hand

Does this make a a difference?
Do French Terestrial TV show the Race/Matches?

I'm trying to see if I can find some stuff for you. When we moved last year we left a dish, cable and LNB. They may still have it or I have other contacts. Not sure if the LNB is suitable for digital, although I think it will be.
I'll be with the TVR Sussex crew probably near you in Houx.

Footprint. LeMans is northern France but good point.
... Looks like the smallest dish will cope.

Has any one got any idea which type of dish is going to work the best for this, I'm not spending a fortune on this as its only getting used once!

My sources for a dish for you have failed (all been binned) but I do have a 3m cable with F-connectors (standard satellite screw connector).
A 60 cm dish should be OK and at a push the standard mini dish. The satellite footprint I've seen looks OK.
If not using the mini dish then the LNB needs to be a Universal LNB preferrable less than 4-5 years old otherwise the frequencies will be shifted.

I'm camping about 100 yards from you, I think, somewhere between 420 and 450 (we have a few) in Houx.

As for the dish and LNB.
LNB and dish will recieve anything aimed at if its big enough and the LNB the right freq.
Lower band 11-11.5 Ghz then 11.5 to 12 Ghz odd. Depends what you want.
0.7 is the noise figure. lower the better. 0.7 is pretty good.
Find out what you want to recieve.
Digital dishes don't need to be as big as big for analogue for
reception.
Might suggest a larger dish for analogue
As for the kit on the end I havn't a clue. No sat TV at at home.

One of the biggest problems with the analogue system is football coverage! I'm not sure if anyone is broadcasting the football on analogue
