Dare I believe my eyes?
Discussion
Took 'er indoors out for a spin on Sunday afternoon to escape the dreariness of my kid sister's A-Level revision and had barely reach the Dunstable town limits (what a place!!!) when I spy with my beady little eyes an old Ecurie Ecosse transporter with what looked like a brace of C-Types on the back!
Despite my frantic hooting and gibbering they didn't wave back and I was forced to cackle wildly as they went past. Thought about turning round to follow them, but the girlfriend, being a typical girl was unimpressed with this suggestion.
Does anyone know how many C-Types are around - what's the likelihood of these being the real Duncan Hamilton '53 Le Mans thingies?
PS - On the way back through Redbourn in the rain was following a bloke and his Missus in their Purple Chimp - taking it very easy round the roundabouts

Do you mean they should have been giving it large and getting it sideways thus endangering passengers, other motorists and pedestrians alike?
i'm pretty sure that they are restored orignals. i remember seeing them on the transporter at Silverstone during the Coys festival. i had a wander over to them and they seemed to be battle scared in the way that an original car would be kept.. either that or they had spent a lot of time sourcing parts! www.topsclub.freeserve.co.uk/LeMans.html
has a story to make any pistonhead weep with envy! i'm not sure they would have allowed replicas to enter such a race and there is mention of the ecurie ecosse transporter in the text too!.
I really should get out more.

Maybe they were on there way to Le Mans? I'm sure I saw that transporter at Le Mans last year.
And another thing, would you really go to all that bother to source and restore that transported (must have cost a fortune) to transport a couple of XJ6 based glass fibre replicas? Of course not.
The 53 Le Mans winning C-type, as driven by Duncan Hamilton, is still owned by Adrian Hamilton (Duncans son) who runs a 'Duncan Hamilton' specialist car dealership in the south.
Mike.

Going to Le Mans? Via Dunstable?
As the Irish might say "If I had to get to there, I wouldn't start from here"! Don't think anyone goes near Dunstable without a very good reason!
Unless you've got a Max'd Saxo or Nova, in which case da rude boyz are in effect down at the KFC car park...
