Right, I'm torn between a couple of options. At the moment I have my TVR wedge as a daily driver. I'm happy with this and want to keep it as a daily driver. I also have an old C3 Corvette. This is in perfect running order, just resprayed and generally very tidy. My plan was to use this as a second fun car and over time get it into top condition and take it to the occasional show. I also planned to modify the engine and driveline to get more power from it.

I love the car and everything, but I also really want a trackday car. I've been looking at Westfields etc. and like the idea of being able to use on on track. But, there is no way I can afford (let alone store) both. So I've been trying to decide what to do.

One thing that concerns me is that because I don't have a towing car (or room for a trailer) I can't have a track only Westie, it'd have to drive to the track and back which make me worry about reliability.

The other concern is that at the moment when I get the urge to drive the 'vette I can step outside and do it, or use it for the commute the next day. Will it not be annoying getting the urge to thrash the track car, going online and booking a trackday of the next month or whenever, having to shell out £100 and wait. I suppose since it would have to be street legal I could still take it for a spin on public roads...Gahhh! Why can't I afford both

Any opinions or suggestion?

Oh, how tall and fat can you get before a Westfield ceases to become an option

Worrying about coming home from a track day following a breakdown is just a little silly - join aa relay scheme and its no problem.

Try working out how many TD a year you might do, then calculate the cost of owning a westie vs the cost of hiring the companys caterham (or similar)

iirc its about £325 for the day - so might be a short term option.

The wide body caterfields like the seight etc allow reasonable possibilities to continue the pie gorging

Will the AA bring you back? I assumed there would be exclusions to the cover that mean they wouldn't recover you if it was due to track or competition use.

Anyone else ever have to make this descision? Any more ideas?

Can somebody confirm that the AA will collect a broken car from the track?

To ansnwer your topic title atleast.

A "Cool classic trackday racer" would be rather ace. I bet the Vette's quite fun in a low grip/ sliding fun kind of way.

As for the AA, not sure, but the RAC seem to pick up cars from hillclimbs/ sprints often enough

Not saying I've seen it done, but the final option is to push the car outside the front gate of the track and say it died as you were leaving
