A mate of mine (Italian) has one of these, and while it looks like it's going fast just standing on the drive, it sounds like a bag of bolts! He has so far managed to avoid my requests of going out for a blat together
He's has had his for maybe 4 years now and paid about 25K for it, but it is in real top nick.

That's about right for one of these. Dont pay more than about 19k or 20k for a minter.
.mark, sounds like your mate paid a bit over the odds .... unless it's a concours winner of course, they can always fetch silly money. Or really low miles, that always seems to bump up Ferrari prices (for some reason ?!?)
Scottster .... first of all, you're wrong. The cheapest way to own a Ferrari is a Mondial or a 400i, they can be picked up from 9k to 10k. Secondly, are your comments based on any kind of fact, or are you just jumping on the usual press bandwagon and slagging them off coz they were styled by Bertone, not Pininfarrina ? And before you start whittering on about "awful wedge styling", take a look at what TVR, Triumph and Lotus were kicking out round about the same time. And tell me, have you ever driven one ?
BTW no, I dont own one.

My apologies Nevpugh, don't own one, never drievn one don't liek the sytling and have seen/heard bad things. I was (like hmmm, quite a few others here from time to time) of course, merely viewing my opinions on something I know little about...... Like Porsche drivers who slag off TVRs for being shite without having owned one and TVR drivers who slag off Porsches without having owned one either etc etc

Personally I think the 308's are great looking cars and if I was to ever have the money I'd have one on the drive. Wedge shape cars do it for me, but! BEWARE A BARGAIN! they rarely turn out to be, and often cost you consicerably more in the long run. If it's the best you can afford, fine, I'd say buy it and enjoy, but if your just looking for a cheap one to save a few bucks, walk away. And before I get jumped on, this is only my opinion, and has no basis in fact, other than experiences with my Lotus.

Scottster .... no biggie
We all do that sometimes, including myself !! You see, lots of people have lots of opinions about different cars .... you ask the average man in the street what they think about, say, TVR's and they'll reply "ooh, they're so unreliable". Same with Porkers ... "ooh, very tail happy". Of course some of it's based on a bit of truth, and a lot of it is myth
308GT4's are okay cars (especially for the price) ... okay, looks wise ? PURELY personal choice ! But under the skin they're fairly okay for their time .... space frame chassis, twin wishbone suspension, all alloy 3.0 V8 with quad webber's, quad cam and a lovely snick snick gearbox (but now I'M being emotive, cos it's the same engine as in my 308GTS
) Apart from the obligatory 70's dodgy electrics, they're okay cars.
However, you know what it's like .... take 10 cars, 9 good un's and 1 bad un, and the chap with the bad un will shout the loudest and longest, so cars get tarred with an image (take GT6's for example .... mk1 GT6's have very dubious rear suspension ! However, they revised it for the mk2 and mk3, and the later cars actually handled okay, but the whole range was tarred with the "dodgy swing spring tuck in" image)
Cleg .... as I say, you could go out and buy a 400i (or stablemate) for 9k .... but there's a reason for that. Lovely v12 engine, but similar wedgie styling, and mega money to run !
Aw, cr@p, now look at me rambling ! I'll shut up now and go away
