Todays question of the day on autocar site and their answer:

02/08/02 Buying British

I'm in the market for a second-hand British supercar and my shortlist is an Esprit GT3 or a Cerbera Speed Six. Slightly concerned that at just over six feet tall I won't fit into the Lotus. What should I know about the TVR – is the straight six reliable? Have they fixed the electrical gremlins that seem to haunt most TVRs? Any advice would be gratefully received.

John Lithgow

answer

"Go for the Esprit. No, go for the TVR. Actually no, on second thoughts, forget them both, forget the patriotism and buy yourself a decent sports car that won't go wrong – like a Porsche 911."

some people just miss the point of "sports car"....

And what exactly is the 'point of real sports car' billb?

One that's built like c**p, rarely goes and has monkeys for dealers?

Before you ask, yes, I am talking from experience and don't want to start ANY kind of debate, just my two pence worth.

oi! nothing per-se wrong with the MR2 - it's definately a sportscar. definately not a supercar (as some owners seem to think!), and not the best drivers car around, but for the money little comes close. Having lived with one for 3 years now they cut it as an all-rounder perfectly... don't knock 'em till you've lived with 'em...

tsk!

Calm down, you'll have someone's eye out waving those curling tongs around like that!
